If you have ever come across the famous book Out of Africa which Karen Blixen wrote about her stay in Kenya and her beloved farm, and was later made into a great movie. It shows the struggles she underwent to keep her estate and how her understanding and love for the culture and the people around her.
museum in Kenya situated about 17 kilometres from Nairobi City Centre. It was built in 1912 and was home to the iconic Danish author of ‘Out of Africa’ (which won an Oscar Award)-Karen Blixen. This famous author, artist and poet lived here while setting up her coffee farm at the foot of the Ngong Hills.
Things to see and Learn
- Farm tools including a tractor from that period, wagons, ploughs and an original coffee processing factory equipment form part of this rich collection, as outdoor exhibits.

Opening hours of the Museum
Karen Blixen Museum includes a docent-led tour that lasts roughly 30 minutes, but it’s worth lingering for a walk around the scenic grounds.
