Lake Chala is a crater lake that straddles the border between Kenya and Tanzania. It’s one of the deepest lakes in Africa. The Lake is surrounded by evergreen vegetation with abundant bird life and a variety of wildlife including the dik-dik, monkeys, baboons and The Lake Chala Tilapia which is endemic to Lake Chala and is in the Red List of threatened species, which is maintained by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, describes this fish as critically endangered.

Getting there
The lake is east of Mount Kilimanjaro, 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) north of Taveta, Kenya, and 55 kilometres (34 mi) east of Moshi, Tanzania.
