Best camps and lodges to stay in Serengeti National Park

The Serengeti National Park covers a truly massive area of land, with different corners of the park offering up wildly different game drive and accommodation experiences.

Depending on the time of year you are visiting, different areas of the park offer something different.

The movements of the Wildebeest Migration, arguably the Greatest Show on Earth, further complicate things. If you’re hoping to track this massive movement of wildlife then you need to be in the right place and at the right time of the year in order to experience the best of your safari.

Southern Serengeti

The Ndutu region is home to the Wildebeest Migration’s calving season and presents a fantastic opportunity to see the entire herd in one place before it sets off. Lodges and camps in the Ndutu region can sit in either the Serengeti National Park or the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, so it’s important to know where your game drives will be taking place.

  • Kenzan Ndutu Camps
  • Ndutu Safari Lodge
  • Ndutu Under Canvas

Central Serengeti National Park

Central Serengeti is the best place to go on a safari in Tanzania. The region is humming with wildlife. The area possesses a variety of habitats, ranging from swamps and rivers to kopjes and thick woodlands and some of our favourite places to stay include

  • Serengeti Serena Lodge
  • Four seasons lodge
  • Mbuzi mawe tented lodge
  • Lemala Seronera camp

Northern Serengeti National Park

The Lamai triangle is a triangular-shaped region located in Northern Serengeti between the Mara River & The Masai Mara. This spit of savanna is wholly sequestered from the rest of the park by the Mara River, with just a tiny seasonal bridge providing access. It remains one of the most secluded and uncrowded areas of the Serengeti and offers prime viewing of river crossings during the migration season from roughly July to October.

  • Sayari Tented Camp
  • Lamai Serengeti Camp
  • Serengeti Bush tops

Western Serengeti national park

The Serengeti’s Western Corridor is a great place to focus as over 50% of the herds head out to this area in late April and May. They will often stay there for the next few weeks, well into June. The remainder of the migration heads directly north and enters the northern Lobo and Kogatende areas of the Serengeti

  • Grumeti Serengeti River camp
  • Serengeti River camp
  • Lemala ewanjan camp
  • Nyikani migration camp
