Walking safaris in Tarangire National Park

There are several chances to explore the region on walk safaris even if the park is hidden and relatively unknown. Walking safaris give you a more learning experience about the smaller animals within the bushland and a better way of spotting the animals at close range without disturbing them. The most dominant feature within this park, the Tarangire River stands out. Even when it is very dry, the park has thick vegetation with acacia shrubs and mixed woodland. Actual walk

Tembo Njia (meaning, elephant’s path in Swahili) is a 6 km trail. The trekking starts at Maweninga Camp and a vehicle awaits guests at the end of the tour and drives them back to camp. The walk is moderately difficult and is open to the age of 16. To make the most of your walk, we suggest an early morning start (you may start as early as 7 from camp and then have breakfast when you return) or a mid-late afternoon start to avoid the day’s heat. A TANAPA guide or your driver guide plus an armed ranger will show you the way through varied landscapes. Lots of different animals can be observed such as Elands, zebras, elephants, wildebeests, and buffalos.

What to pack

a pair of trousers, closed shoes, a long-sleeved tee-shirt or shirt as well as a hat, Camera & binoculars and enough drinking water plus a rain jacket in your bag pack.
