How to get to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park-Mountain gorilla trekking is considered to be one of Africa’s greatest wildlife encounters however a level of fitness is required to hike up the mountains as you trek down the silverback hanging around his babies and females in the dense rainforest south west of Ugandan capital Kampala. With limited gorilla permits sold daily clients are advised to plan their gorilla trekking safaris in good time.
Bwindi impenetrable national park can be accessed by road or by air from Entebbe or Kampala, alternatively travelers can fly to Kigali in Rwanda and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
By road from Entebbe or Kampala.
Bwindi forest is located 520 Kms south west of Entebbe and Kampala, by road through Masaka-Mbarara-Ntungamo-Rukungiri/Kabale to Bwindi forest, the drive will take 10-11 hours.
By road from Kigali Rwanda
From Kigali to Bwindi forest is about 150 Kms via Katuna border, this drive will take you about 4-5 hours including border crossing.
By air from Entebbe.
Aerolink Uganda Limited is a domestic airline offering both scheduled and charter flights into Uganda’s national parks.
From its base at Entebbe International Airport, Aerolink using its Cessna Grand Caravans, offers daily flights into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (Kihihi and Kisoro airstrips), this flights take 1-1:30 minutes and a transfer of 1-2 hours is required from the airstrip to the lodge.
