Our 4 Days Mgahinga gorilla Trekking safari will give you an opportunity to trek the Mountain gorillas and also explore Lake Mutanda in the comfort of Luxury during your safari in Uganda.

Mgahinga is a 34 square km national park located south western Uganda bordering Rwanda’s Volcanoes national park and Democratic Republic of Congo and the park is a home to Mountain gorillas, Golden Monkeys and the indigenous Batwa pygmy tribe that once occupied the rainforest and now they settled just outside the park boundary and you can pay a visit to them during your stay at Mgahinga gorilla national park.

Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and transfer to Mgahinga gorilla national park.

After morning breakfast you will be transferred from Kigali to Kisoro upon arrival in Kisoro you will explore the town, visit local market and enjoy lunch there after you will be transferred to the Lodge for relaxation and Lunch and later after resting you may do an evening sundowner boat cruise on Lake Mutanda.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking experience in Mgahinga gorilla national park

After early morning breakfast you will drive to Mgahinga gorilla national park for your gorilla trekking experience upon arrival at the park you will be received by the rangers and take you through a briefing and after you will start your trek in to the rainforest in search of the mountain gorillas, after finding the gorillas you will then spend one hour with the gorillas and later return to the park, the experience can take anything from 2 hours to 8 hours depending on the location of the Mountain gorillas.

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking experience

Yet another day in the forest, after morning breakfast you will transfer to the park headquarters for golden Monkey experience in Mgahinga, golden monkeys are one of the rear species of Monkeys found in the Virunga massif and you also trek the monkeys on foot and upon locating the monkeys you will spend 1 hour with them and then transfer back to the Lodge for relaxation.

Day 4: Transfer back to Kigali.

After morning breakfast depending on your flight schedule you will then be transferred to back to Kigali with time permitting you may visit the Kigali genocide Museum and then later transfer to the airport or your hotel.

Detailed itinerary

DAY 1: FULL DAY NAIROBI CITY TOUR

After an early morning breakfast at your lodge our guide will meet you for a short briefing about the day and after you will depart in your vehicle and head to the Nairobi national museum which showcase Kenya’s rich heritage after you will drive to the David Sheldrick elephant orphanage where you will learn more about the rescued elephants and the interesting work to protect them and release them to the wild after you will head to the giraffe manor where you will enjoy feeding the giraffes and learning about the conservation then after you will head to a local restaurant to try a typical Kenyan cuisine and later end the day at the famous Karen Blixen Museum and after here your guide will transfer you back to your lodge.
