Game drives in Kasenyi Plains Queen Elizabeth-Kasenyi plains in Queen Elizabeth national park is open vast savannah plains located on the shores of Lake George and the kikorongo escarpment overlooking the Rwenzori mountains, with short grass and few trees and turns of cactus trees, this area is famous for game viewing, lions and leopards usually climb the cactus trees in search of shade during the hot sun.
With Almost 100 mammal species and a remarkable 606 bird species makes this superb safari territory, with elephant, a profusion of hippos, buffalos, warthog, waterbucks, the elusive giant forest hog, and handsome Uganda Kob all regularly sighted around the Kasenyi plains.
Game drive in this area last usually 3- 4 hours with a visit to the crater Lake to see the migratory flamingoes and the salt pans, local salt mining expert will take you through the process of extracting salt from the salt pans to the container.
When to go.
QENP Park is open all-year-long, but wildlife viewing is at its best from January to February and June to July (the Dry seasons). However, this scenic park is at its most beautiful in the Wet seasons from March to May and August to December. April May, August, and September are very wet months and during that time, the rain might interfere with your safari.
