This town is known for its laid-back atmosphere, sunny weather, fresh seafood, Swahili-inspired architecture and of course, immaculate East African beaches.

Although the town of Malindi is much smaller than Mombasa and Nairobi, it offers some of the most luxurious hotels, resorts and restaurants. The town has some of the best places to visit, such as Milda Creek in Watamu. Milda Creek is a broad water tidal stream surrounded by mangroves and lined with palms.

Getting to Malindi

Jambojet fly from Nairobi to Malindi at least twice daily. On some days, they fly up to three times a day. Booking flights weeks or even months to your trip will save you some coins.

Watamu marine national reserve

The Watamu Marine National Park represents an underwater haven of corals, fish, and other aquatic marine life, the coral reef is comprised of 110 different species of stony coral and numerous crustaceans and mollusks.  The diverse marine life earned the park a biosphere reserve status as well as the UN World Biosphere Reserve recognition.

The makeup of the coral reef includes 150 species of hard and soft corals that are home to over 500 species of fish.  The surrounding marine area increases the species of fish to around 1,000. 

Barracuda, Green turtles, Hawksbill turtles, Leatherback turtles, manta rays, octopus, Olive Ridley Turtles, and whale sharks are some of the more intriguing species that people like to encounter.

Getting to Watamu

The best way to get to Watamu is by flying to Malindi and then take the 30 minute drive from Malindi.
