What is mountain gorilla habituation Experience?

The Gorilla habituation experience is the process of gently introducing wild Mountain Gorillas to the sight and presence of humans for research, tourism and conservation purposes. Visitors are now able to take part in this process via gorilla habituation experience. The gorilla habituation process is an everyday venture, which lasts for 2-3 years before a Gorilla family becomes accustomed to the presence of Humans.

Where to go

Gorilla habituation experience only takes place in the southern sector of the Bwindi Forest in the Rushaga region.

Cost of Gorilla habituation experience permit?

The cost of a gorilla habituation permit is USD 1500 per person per permit minimum of 4 permits are available daily.

When to go

June to October and December to February are considered the best time for gorilla habituation as the trails are more drier making it easy to trek in the rainforest.
