Trip overview
The Mara River crossing is one of the greatest obstacles in the entire circle of the wildebeest Migration; there are only two options of Life and death on parade at the most reliably perilous site of “the Great Migration.”
One of earth’s most spectacular wildlife events takes place each year in the heart of Tanzania’s Serengeti national park and Kenya’s Masai Mara all located in the heart of East Africa, culminating at a river crossing where nature coldly decides who lives to see another season this is made harder due to the fact that Mara River sometimes experiences flooding and the crocodiles are always waiting for food and on the other hand lions and cheetahs are on alert in Masai mara.
Over 1.5 million wildebeest, zebras, Thomson’s gazelles, and Elands follow a circular migratory route throughout the Serengeti and Masai Mara ecosystems, fraught with a series of river passages whose raging currents and predatory beasts lurking in the shallows make the endeavor more than just a simple swim.

Detailed itinerary
After your morning breakfast you will transfer to Arusha Airstrip which is the gateway to Tanzania’s northern circuit safari routes. Perched under Mount Meru and surrounded by coffee plantations for Kogatende airstrip is the gateway to the Northern Circuit of Serengeti National Park. This increasingly popular game viewing area‚ in the north -western corner of the park‚ has the Mara River running through its secret valleys and hills. The Maasai Mara Reserve in Kenya lies just across the border.

The North Serengeti Hills are covered in large acacia trees which support large amounts of elephants, giraffes, antelopes, buffaloes, and the carnivores that prey on them. It's a fascinating opportunity to see a large number of Africa's most iconic animals in a relatively small amount of time.
On this day you will contact game drives in Bologonja and Kogatende areas where you will eventually meet the Mara River itself. Home to large numbers of hippos and Nile crocodiles, the Mara River is the last major obstacle standing between the Wildebeest Migration. With lots of patience and a little lucky, you may even get to witness the death-defying crossing itself where wildebeest and zebras brave the river's currents and crocodiles in an attempt to reach safety on the opposite bank and later return to the lodge.
