Day and Night Nature walk in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary-With very few big and dangerous game Ziwa is perhaps one of the best places to encounter wildlife on foot, the sanctuary has incredible wildlife ranging from Giraffes, Zebras, Jackson’s Heartbeats, Uganda Kob, bushbuck, oribi, common grey duiker, warthog, waterbuck, reedbuck, Vervet monkey, black and white colobus, Reptiles also make their appearance including chameleon, agama lizard and if you are very lucky African rock python.

The nature walks are planned to get you a glimpse of the diverse and plentiful wildlife that share the sanctuary. Visitors regularly see you’re also likely to see a recently discovered species of dragonfly that is unique to the area. If you are very lucky you might catch a glimpse of a leopard, aardvark, honey badger, genet cat or porcupine!

Night walks

Walking a long side an armed ranger guide with a flash light in the middle of the African darkness is a life changing experience, the night walks provide you with the best possible chance to see one of the elusive Leopard or Aardvark. Walking with only your flashlight to clear the dark this is certainly one of our more exhilarating activities and will certainly have your heart pumping experience to your adventure.

Best time to do Nature walks in Ziwa Rhino sanctuary.

It’s important to note that Ziwa Rhino sanctuary has a lot of flood plains and during rainy season the sanctuary can be extremely muddy and it can make walking in game rich areas very difficult .

we highly recommend visiting Ziwa Rhino sanctuary during the countries 2 dry spells from June to August and from December to February for the best experience to see wildlife as many animals will concentrate on the water holes late in the evening making it easier to spot the wildlife.
